Southwold

Here are a few photos I took in Southwold, Suffolk. I really enjoyed visiting this little town and found the pier very interesting. It was built in 1900 but has been refurbished recently. What attracted me the most was the way they used typography in a playful way throughout the pier.


I particularly liked how they used animated characters , as signage, instead of the traditional medium (on the video above).
I also liked the idea of having 3000 plaques lining the wooden handrails.  These plaques contain happy quotes instead of the melancholic memoriam verses we are use to reading. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of this.
